The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (III: Review)

By now of course I finished all 3 books of this series and there is just one thing I can say: It is a must-read for everyone. It immediately went into my top 5 of favorite books (or series in this case). Check them out, you will love them. I will definitely read all 3 books again soon (even though the first one is still my favorite).

My Name Is Memory by Ann Brashares (I: Getting Started)

Here is what barnesandnobles says about the book:
From the New York Times-bestselling author of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and The Last Summer (of You and Me) comes an imaginative, inspired, magical book-a love story that lasts more than a lifetime. Daniel has spent centuries falling in love with the same girl. Life after life, crossing continents and dynasties, he and Sophia (despite her changing name and form) have been drawn together-and he remembers it all. Daniel has "the memory", the ability to recall past lives and recognize souls of those he's previously known. It is a gift and a curse. For all the times that he and Sophia have been drawn together throughout history, they have also been torn painfully, fatally, apart. A love always too short. Interwoven through Sophia and Daniel's unfolding present day relationship are glimpses of their expansive history together. From 552 Asia Minor to 1918 England and 1972 Virginia, the two souls share a long and sometimes torturous path of seeking each other time and time again. But just when young Sophia (now "Lucy" in the present) finally begins to awaken to the secret of their shared past, to understand the true reason for the strength of their attraction, the mysterious force that has always torn them apart reappears. Ultimately, they must come to understand what stands in the way of their love if they are ever to spend a lifetime together. A magical, suspenseful, heartbreaking story of true love, My Name is Memory proves the power and endurance of a union that was meant to be.

When I got this book I wasn't sure what to think about it but now that I am 50 pages in I am all in love. The story already is so fascinating that I was barely able to stop reading around midnight to go to sleep. Now that I know that a trilogie is planned I am even more curious because then it obviously cannot end the way I thought it would ;) If you are into tragic and complicated lovestories with a twist then this book is great for you!

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (I: Getting Started)

Synopsis from bn.com
Katniss is a 16-year-old girl living with her mother and younger sister in the poorest district of Panem, the remains of what used be the United States. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games." The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed. When Kat's sister is chosen by lottery, Kat steps up to go in her place.

Many people did recommend this to me and since the third book of this series just came out I had to check it all out. I finally started reading the first book of The Hunger Games series yesterday and I understand why everyone is so into it. I love it. I am pretty sure I will finish it tomorrow ;) So if you are interested in this kind of books, please read it!!!

Living Dead Girl by Elizabeth Scott (III: Review)

Summary:
The thing is, you can get used to anything. You think you can't, you want to die, but you don't. You won't. You just are.

This is Alice.

She was taken by Ray five years ago.

She thought she knew how her story would end.

She was wrong.

My opinion: This is a pretty short book but that doesn't mean it isn't as good. I loved it and I am sure I will read it again even you it leaves you afraid with feelings you don't want to feel. The author really lets you know what Alice thinks, how she feels, how she gets through every single day in that living hell. The end really surprised me which definitely is a plus for me. And since it is a pretty short book I think everyone should read it. You will get through it very fast bu I for myself have never read a similar book!

and as an extra
Read an Excerpt on the authors site (please note: this book is listed as being for ages 16 and up)

Willow by Julian Hoban (II: Reading in progress)

Here is the summary from amazon:
Seven months ago, on a rainy March night, sixteen year- old Willow’s parents died in a horrible car accident. Willow was driving. Now her older brother barely speaks to her, her new classmates know her as the killer orphan girl, and Willow is blocking the pain by secretly cutting herself. But when one boy —one sensitive, soulful boy—discovers Willow’s secret, it sparks an intense relationship that turns the “safe” world Willow has created for herself upside down.

This book is simply stunning. I think everyone should read it. I haven't finished it yet but it totally caught my interest even though I normally don't read such books. As you know I am more into fantasy books. But this book simply has it all. The author describes the thoughts and feelings of Willow so well that you simply can't hate her. You just want to help her like other characters in the book and I cannot wait to find out how it all end. Please check it out!

Pamela Des Barres "I'm With The Band" (III: Review)

A few weeks ago while browsing around on Amazon, I found this book. Look at the cover. Wouldn't you click on a link showing that cover?
I had never heard of "Miss Pamela" before, and ordered the book, which was a little complicated because it's PoD (at least that's what my bookseller said).

Miss Pamela (in her time) adored rock stars. She wanted to support them, care for them, which also included sleeping with them. Her biography tells us about heir adventures and loves during the golden years of rock and roll.
I can't really tell you more about the plot, but I dare quote Gene Simmons: "Miss Pamela knows whereof she speaks – she was, and still is, murder in high heels!"

Rating: **** Really lovely biography. Funny and full of irony. Lovelovelove it! ;)
